The town of Buda is rich in history and has that Olde Town look with beautiful architecture, antique shops and host to many festivals. The downtown area has a post office dated back to the late 1800’s surrounded by a 50 acre park with hill country views and scenic Onion Creek. It is home to Night Hawk Frozen Foods, Jardine Foods and Cabellas . Buda is located 17 miles south of Austin in northeastern Hays County just off of I-35.
Happenings in Buda
Buda is home to several outdoor festivals. The County Fair and Cookoff takes place in April and is known for the great Wiener Dog Races. FireFest honors our wonderful firefighters each October. Another October event in Buda is Art After Dark which has music, wine and food. If you are looking for entertainment then discover BudaFest in December.
Neighborhoods in Buda range in age, acreage and home size including Leisure Woods, Ruby Ranch, Coves of Cimarron, Creekside Park, Bradfield Village, Shadow Creek, Whispering Hollow, Garlic Creek and many other communities. Buda is home to three elementary schools, two middle schools and one high school which are recognized and exemplary schools. There are convenient shopping centers just off of I-35 and is a short drive to San Marcos Premium Outlet Mall. A short drive toward Austin will bring you to South Park Meadows which has a movie theatre, restaurants, clothing stores and a large array of retail shopping.
